After an initial meeting with the design committee, the artist creates the potential designs. Following this meeting, the design committee and artist meet to choose a design, refine the design, and select glass colors.
Once the final design is determined, the patterns are drawn and cut out, and the lead and glass are cut.
After all the pieces are cut, it is time for the painting process (optional). Painting is done to add ornate details, such as facial characteristics, to the stained glass panel, therefore it is not used in every design.
The stained glass panel is then soldered and assembled. Finally, the new stained glass panel is cemented. This is a process where cement is brushed into the voids of the lead, adding strength to the stained glass panel. In addition, this process seals the window and provides protection from the elements.
And voilá! The window is now ready for installation!
