Chapels and Cheeseburgers – What’s Not To Love?

As a stained glass company, we spend a lot of our time in old churches restoring historic windows and fabricating new ones. The architecture is something to be cherished – the quality, the detail, and the character – it’s rich and simple at the same time. Over the last year or so, we can’t help but notice the church-turned-restaurant trend and we are loving it. There’s something completely charming about being able to enjoy a nice meal in a historic building. The architecture and atmosphere is incredible – and stained glass plays a huge part in that. It’s amazing to see the purpose and utility of the windows change. There is so much to appreciate about stained glass and we are excited that the craft is being introduced to (and appreciated by) an entirely new audience and industry. One of our favorites is The Chapel Grill in Naples, Florida. Opened about a year ago, it is located in a beautifully restored church off of 5th Avenue. We spend a lot of time in Naples and this restaurant is always at the top of our list.

What A Week!

The Thirst Convention was a success! BIG thanks to Bismarck Diocese for hosting such a wonderful event and to all those who joined us – you made our experience a memorable one. Can’t wait for next year! photo 2 After wrapping up our big weekend in North Dakota, we got right back to work in the studio. So much to do, so little time! This week, we’re working on quite a few restoration projects. Although stained glass requires very little upkeep, restoration is critical when needed. As your windows age, the lead and putty begin to decay. If this issue is not addressed the glass will eventually crack or fall out of the caming. A videographer from the Basilica of Saint Mary, one of our most recent restoration projects, dropped in the Gaytee-Palmer studio and put together this beautiful video documenting the entire restoration process of The Sacristy Windows – check it out: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=575631605818991 You can learn more about the restoration process on our website by clicking the “Re-lead & Restoration Process” photo on our home page. Now who’s ready for Halloween?? We are!

New Stained Glass Windows for St Mary Parish, Arlington MN

October 27, 2009 Letter of Recommendation for Palmer-Stained Glass, Inc. We, at St. Mary Parish in Arlington, MN, had the good fortune and very positive experience of working with Al Palmer as we incorporated into our modern worship area in the 1920’s stained glass windows from a church in our diocese that closed a year ago. With Al’s dedication to this challenging endeavor it was an incredibly successful project of tastefully and appropriately blending the old windows with four newly commissioned modern windows depicting angels designed by Stanley Hildrith and expertly produced by Palmer Stained Glass, Inc. If you want to consult or work with individuals who specialize in church stained glass windows, who listen and aim to please, who are knowledgeable and creative and craftsman, who stay in communication and meet deadlines, I highly recommend Al Palmer and his crew. They are honorable, respectful, cooperative and honest craftsmen who do top quality work and who stand behind their work. I will not hesitate to enlist their services again for any future stained glass window needs. Sincerely yours, Fr. Jerry Paulson Pastor
